If you are in the middle of working on it but need a couple days after the deadline to finish it up, you may send me a WIP and I will still accept it.
OKAY, so here's the info for my first contest~!
The overall contest theme will be several (not all) of my OCs. Before I get started with the info pertaining to that, I'd like to lay down the prizes and the rules for the contest:
Please note: If you would like to help contribute with prizes I would be extremely grateful. If you're interested in helping, please note me what you're willing to do, whether it's points, art, or even just a feature. You may still participate in the contest if you are offering prizes.
A 1 year premium membership OR 2400 points. A fullbody piece of your choice drawn by me. A month's feature on my front page. An art feature from Ren-Yangze (She will feature five of the winner's pieces from their gallery) A fullbody, simple background, flat colored piece from CrispyGray
A 3 month premium membership OR 636 points. A waist-up piece of your choice drawn by me. A month's feature on my front page.
A one month premium membership OR 400 points. A bust-up piece of your choice drawn by me. A month's feature on my front page.
ALL participants will get a feature from both Ren-Yangze and I of their entries.
1. Entries are limited to one piece of art per character/couple. This means that a participant can have multiple entries but can't do more than one piece of the same characters. 2. Out of all the entries a person may make, only one will place if it qualifies. This means we will choose what we think is the best piece of all your entries when we consider the winners. 3. No tracing/using bases. 4. Art may be either traditional or digital, left up to the artist's preference. 5. Backgrounds are preferred but not necessary. 6. Entries should be in color. This means no sketches or uncolored lineart. 7. Don't alter the design of any of my OCs. This includes cutting off hair, changing the color of their eyes or hair, or giving them animal features if they don't have any/taking animal features away if they do have them. You MAY, however, change their outfits if you want to.
My judges for this contest are people that know my characters fairly well already and are familiar with their mannerisms. Because of this they'll be able to help me pick out which pieces most accurately represent that character's personality.
This contest will run for approximately four months. This gives people time to work on their entries in case real life issues spring up or if they work slow. The current planned deadline for this contest is . . .
Monday, May 6th, 2013
The theme for the contest is:
What this means as far as the theme is that the pieces should be a representation of the character's personality with this going on. You can be literal with tears (something like one of my characters crying) or you can add some symbolism somewhere in there, whichever you think would best suit the character you're trying to draw.
Some of my characters are naturally happy, so you may need to get creative!
If you're worried about art quality, or if you think you won't stand a chance of winning because your art isn't as good as someone else's, you don't need to worry. We will be judging based on what we think is the best image of the OC that fits in with their personality, and not the quality of the artwork itself (though if it is very lazily done, that will be taken into consideration).
I've tried to choose the characters I have that will suit several different tastes so that if someone doesn't like one character's design, they may like another. I have one couple that I would like to be drawn together if you choose to do them (they are shounen-ai, so if you aren't comfortable with that, that's fine! You don't have to do them C: ).
Matt and Sean
(check character info in first link)
These two are a lot alike! They're both strong, protective, and would die for their friends if they needed to. The only huge difference between them is that Matt is naturally bubbly and happy while Sean is normally serious and quiet. Also, both of them have problems showing their real emotions, so when doing the contest, please keep that in mind!
Remember, I want these two to be drawn together. They're a couple and always have been, so please don't separate them!
Kishe is an alien from a planet called Di. He fell to earth in order to save his planet from being discovered, but he's a bit more curious than he needs to be. He's very bright but doesn't know a lot about the world he is currently in, and tends to ask way too many questions. He's curious, normally cheerful, and has a very strange hobby of collecting all the cups he can find.
Seren has fallen to Earth too, but for certainly different reasons. She is a piece of the moon that was chipped off and she can't seem to find her way back home. She's very introverted, meaning she keeps to herself even when she needs a lot of help. She gets nervous and scared easily because she doesn't know anything about her surroundings but she tries to cover it up with an innocent expression.
Tamsin is a very lazy girl who likes to spend her days on the couch, laying around in giant shirts and eating junk food. She's flirty when she wants to be and grumpy and unsociable when she wants as well, but deep down she just wants to find someone who is right for her . . . and who can deal with her aggravating mannerisms.
Svet lives on the streets after his family disappeared and his home was taken from him. While being bullied one day he was thrown into a dumpster and knocked out. When he woke up, there was yellow tape in his hair that he oddly couldn't seem to get out, keeping him from using his right eye in the process. It turns out that when the tape is moved and his eye is opened he turns into a monster, becoming very violent and dangerous. Luckily, the tape stays on most of the time, and all it does is make Svet irritable about trying to get the dumb stuff off. He is a rather grumpy guy and likes to eat . . . a lot.
Sileas is a little Phoenix boy with no current owner. He's very vain, considering he's a very pretty bird, and always wants to make sure he looks his best. However, there is a small problem: unlike most Phoenixes, who can heal people with their tears, Sileas can't find the will to cry. Because of this his brother died, but even thinking of that he can't bring tears to his eyes. Also as a Phoenix, when he gets near the end of his regeneration cycle, he looks very sickly and tired. He then will explode in flames and ash, and a couple hours later, come back as bright as ever!
Alright, that should be it! If you have any questions about the contest feel free to comment below or send me a note and I'll do my best to answer. Take your time, have fun, and I can't wait to see all the entries!
